And their SACDs are going to be definitive.........better than anyone elses. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda!

Kind of blah if you want to know the truth!

Doesn't ANYONE at MoFi ever read the postings regarding SA~CDnet's wishlists?

Imagination seems to be in short supply at MoFi..............

What's next, another Mahler Psycho (er, Cycle) on SACD?

SACD may be a niche market.........but we, here and now at SA~CDnet, ARE THAT NICHE!

The jaded Miles fan who'll turn up his nose at the upteenth KofB or IASW would buy an SACD redo of Nefertiti or Miles in the Sky or Water Babies in a heartbeat.

Maybe the second quartet albums will come later.

I also hope that they will continue to at least occasionally release Columbia albums that were not yet done on SACD, like the John McLaughlin/Carlos Santana album just released.

According to the announcement, "Milestones" will be mono, while previous SACDs (and remastered CDs) used the stereo tape.

Just ordered the Miles Davis Quintet: Live In Europe 1967 {Bootleg series), 3 discs + DVD of live performances. Absolute Sound just awarded it 9/9: all from 24 track Master tapes.

I am "assuming" that it has been DSD~mastered from the original analogue tapes and perhaps one day SONY or MoFi will see fit to release it in the SACD format.

These are radio archive tapes. Good sound (much better than the previous bootleg releases, which were home recordings made from the radio broadcasts), but not comparable to concert recordings produced by the Columbia label (such as "My funny Valentine" or the Plugged Nickel box). These recordings were never meant for commercial release.

The "24 track master tapes" info must be a misunderstanding, because these concerts were mixed directly to mono (as radio broadcasts were mono at the time) and the recordings are therefore mono too. The source material is nowhere near audiophile quality, so I don't think a SACD reissue is likely.

Claude to the rescue (again). I cancelled my order and am now entering into a period of mourning for a small niche market which increasingly and chronically is reissuing reissues ad nauseam in the SACD format.

Are we to be grateful........ or disgusted?
