I guess my question is which is to be preferred; the Japanese SACD SICP-10083 or the newest 50th Anniversary version on RBCD?

Just to prove I am not anti-SACD, the Analogue Producions Art Pepper Meets the Rythm Section is the equal of the heavy vinyl (at least on the SA-7).

And now we can add the just announced the Mobile Fidelity SACD of Kind of Blue into the conversation.

For the very best sound it will likely be one of the audiophile LP versions until someone like MFSL or Analogue Productions releases Kind of Blue on SACD.

Wow that was fast! Inburrito the MFSL SACD version should get you closer to the sound of your 180gram LP.

Mine's ordered. :)

I have another Marantz SA-7 now (don't ask, please). With this player, even good RBCDs are just a hair under the vinyl. Blakey's Kyoto and Mingus' Ah Um are two examples. This player is amazing, better than any unit I know of at twice its price.

Looks like KofB is one of a new series of hybrid SACDs of Miles albums from MoFi. The new KofB, like the hybrid JSACD, has no alternate/bonus tracks.

One other question. I think most of the comparisons between the JSACD and us releases are comparing the stereo layer, or are comparing the stereo layer to the MC mix. Has anyone had the opportunity to specifically compare the MC layer on theJapanese release to the American release? Is there really any difference?
