I met Jared at the AES Convention in NYC this past weekend, and was impressed with his commitment to combine the best technology with the best music. His is a multi-faceted progressive company, that has made major contributions to our enjoyment of SACDs. I think it's appropriate to initiate a Channel thread to focus on his past, present, and future projects.

I am looking forward to the Rite of Spring release this winter.

Looking backward, I think this disc

Tchaikovsky/Saint-Saens/Bruch - Wispelwey

got many of us into this whole SACD thing.

That, and his Mahler 1 for me. His talking about the new custom made for him battery powered mic preamps plus the Grimm ADC, and Ivan's reading of the score, has me really anticipating its release. I heard the BFO preform this at the Proms this past summer. Very very well received.

I'm surprised that there wasn't a Channel Classics thread.
Looking forward to bag more great releases from CC.

I'll use this as an opportunity to gloat: I'm seeing Fischer/BFO at Carnegie Hall on Friday. Thankfully they're playing there instead of Avery Fischer Hall.

Hi Tom

I hadn't realised you were over here, we were at the same Prom... so near yet so far, what a great pity.

Did you stay on for his impromptu second concert later in the evening? Jared was there as well.

Best
John

There is quite a gap between BFO releases now, presumably they are so busy travelling te world entertaining everyone that there is no time to stop off in the recording studio?

I agree wholeheartedly, almost all of my Channel SACDs and hi res downloads are superb in every respect.
Great music, very well performed and recorded.
What more can you ask for? In my case only, more please. And asap please.
Any chance for any Operas? If my memory serves me right the BFO performed Figaro last year in Spain.
Any plans for any Mozart Operas with the BFO on SACD?
I also heard my best ever,Salome in Budapest a few years ago.
Now that relatively short but great Opera, would be great follow up on their so far one and only Richard Strauss SACD, Josephs Legende.
I would love to hear both Tod und Verklärung, Till Eulenspiegel and Don Juan from them to mention some Strauss works not yet overrepresented in superb performances and recordings on SACD.
Unfortunately I missed the PROMS this season. My travel plans coincided with the riots and I actually chickened out.
But yes it sounds good to know that not only the Firebird but also Mahler's 1st are on their way.
Good as it is the RCO Live SACD is not top notch as perfomance nor as a recording.
Too many mikes at work again iMO.

With Jared you can basically take a natural non compressed SOTA recording for granted.
So please, keep them coming Jared!

If you are going to mention Strauss, warhorse though it is, ASZ is THE Strauss work underrepresented in modern SACD recordings. Would make a fine choice to be recorded by the BFO, IMO.

When talking about favorite Channel recordings, I would again like to take the time to highlight

Shostakovich: Cello Concerto No. 2 - Wispelwey

One of Channel's lesser known discs, but I think one of the very best. Too bad Jared won't be recording the Sinfonietta Cracovia again.
