At the price of the Immersion set, which already contains duplicate formats (of the 6 discs included, the Blu-ray duplicates DVD1 and CD1), they could have added a hybrid SACD as well, instead of CD1, the marbles and the scarf. Unless SACD manufacturing capacities are now so small that this would have limited the number of copies of the box set to be shipped at release date.

For a company like AP, 6000 preorders is huge.

It is huge when they apparently have only 2 people processing the orders.
They must be working pretty hard, hopefully they hire some temps to help out :)

2 people may be sufficient for selling LPs, not rock SACDs!

Do we know what is the break-even point for them? If Pink Floyd does not make them enough money, it is doubtful we shall see the less-famous acts being released any time soon :(

I think it is safe to assume AP will make money. I doubt any of their other releases sell anywhere close to 6000 copies at launch.

The real question I think is how many copies do they have to sell for the majors to be willing to license more titles to them. Obviously there has been a pent up demand for the WYWH SACD, pretty much since DSOTM was released years ago. There aren't that many titles that will sell as well.

I also hope the Immersion box set does well. If there aren't going to be a lot of SACD reissues, we want box sets with Blu-ray rreissues to keep coming. I would like to see the rumored Graceland box set this spring to include a MC High-Rez Blu-Ray remaster (and would be very happy if AP could latch on to SACD release rights).

Hopefully michi will be able to give us some info on whether this release is having a positive impact on future releases.

Think Steve Wilson's stellar remaster of Jethro Tull's Aqualung would be a good candidate since the 5.1 hiz~rez surround is only available on Blu-Ray, at present......the included DVD~A in their "immersion" box set is only DD and DTS 5.1.

Would seem logical since AP seems to be on a roll releasing Capitol/EMI on SACD (Nat King Cole, the Blue Notes, WYWH, etc.)

I don't get it. I live in the US and my copy has not yet shipped from the US company, but the guy who lives in NZ gets his copy shipped off?

Sorry yours hasn't shipped yet. I got my pre-order in as soon as I found out about it (I'm on the Acoustic Sounds e-mail mailing list) and that was some considerable time ago now. Maybe that's how AS is handling the orders - first in, first served?

Or maybe they give priority to international orders, because it takes more time to ship.

No. International orders do not have priority with them. Most probably, orders are executed in cronological order.

At the end of all this, has anybody got theirs yet and had a chance to listen to it? Any reviews coming soon?
