Hey guys. I need your help. Like most of you, I'm thrilled that we're finally getting a 5.1 SACD/Blu-Ray disc of Wish You Were Here in November, but I'm also disappointed that there won't be a 5.1 mix of The Wall included in the Immersion Box set. So I wrote to EMI expressing my discontent on this issue, and I hope all of you will follow me and do the same.

So go to this website: http://www.emimusic.ca/#!/about/contact
And let EMI know that you want "The Wall" mixed in 5.1 and released on SACD and Blu-Ray disc next year. If enough of us write in, maybe it will happen. There's still time.

Here's my message to EMI (feel free to use this message to send to them) -

"Hello.
I'm writing on behalf of Pink Floyd and surround sound fans around the world to petition for a 5.1 surround mix of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" to be mixed and included in the upcoming Immersion Box Set to be released in February 2012. Like most other Pink Floyd fans, I was very excited when I heard the news that Pink Floyd were reissuing expanded versions of their most famous albums, but I was very disappointed to discover that unlike the other two Immersion boxsets, there was to be no 5.1 mix included in the box set for The Wall. Without a 5.1 mix, most fans feel this box set is currently incomplete, especially considering the fact that 4 out of the 7 discs are already available commercially. Look to the model established by the other two Immersion box sets, and please include a 5.1 mix of the Wall on DVD & Blu-Ray disc in the upcoming Immersion box set. We wouldn't even mind if the release date had to be postponed in order for a 5.1 mix to be included. Thanks for you time, and I hope you will see more fans like me writing in to express their discontent on this issue."

Also, sent them an email. What we'll probably get is a remastered BD of Alan Parker's "The Wall." Sorry for the cynicism but Capitol seems to have fallen on deaf ears in the past few years.

I just sent them another petition to release the entire PF catalogue in 5.1 SACD. Why just single out the WALL. I, personally, want them ALL!

Just post your thoughts and suggestions at this link:

http://www.emimusic.com/blog/2011/pink-floyd-redefine-their-emi-legacy-2/

It's free, it won't hurt, it only takes 2 minutes of your time ;)

SACD stereo & multichannel, blu-ray audio, dvd-audio, high resolution downloads, high quality vinyl,...

Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, David Bowie, Beatles, Bat for Lashes, Norah Jones, Depeche Mode, Blue Note,...

This is your chance, don't wait too long.

You may also refer to Analogue Productions / Acoustic Sounds (responsible for Wish You Were Here-sacd)

Please post this at every audiophile/music related website!!!

I'm trying to do my best to post this at the "local audio forums" in my country.

We need the help of all "music lovers", not only audiophiles. Ask your family, friends, collegues,... to help us. Maybe social network sites ...

Tell us your initiatives so we can support each other! We won't give up the fight!

They all seem to be showing now, including my own.

Seems like the moderation happens within 24 hours. Even during weekend :)

Still only "14 posts".

I don't get it ... People are discussing high res. Pink Floyd releases for years at forums. Hundreds of pages.

When they have the possibility to finally say their thoughts to "the big guys" at EMI, nobody is posting a message.

They won't change their minds for 14 people.

Let's hope there are a few thousands posts out there "awaiting moderation" :)

I have no "official" facebook or twitter page, but maybe someone could startup an "action plan" that will convince people to post a message. And make "unknowing" people aware of high resolution audio at the same time.

I thought hi-res recording was invented in late eighties, in 20 bit systems. Pink Floyd had it in the seventies already?? Why are they hiding these technological gems?

I DID petition EMI twice, but sincerely believe that the outcome will be determined by sales of WYWH. Since Analog Productions will be mastering the disc it will be a "word of mouth" release with probably NO big press release or ads and at a list price of $35 (fair by my standards) but higher for European/Asian markets and considerably higher than the domestic release of DSOTM, it will be a wait and see approach.

In the US, NO big record companies are releasing SACDs anymore unlike the seemingly successful Universal and Warner and now EMI SACD/SHM~SACDs releases in Japan.

MoFi (who will NOT release in mch) and AP will probably be the only US companies releasing SACD product in the foreseeable future. Audio Fidelity is "surging" ahead with their "iffy" 24k gold remasters ( James Taylor's Sweet Baby James is one of the newest) and had those been SACDs it would have been a bonanza but such is NOT the case.

And even though I am a huge advocate of Blu~ray, I would still much prefer a physical SACD as it is still the most versatile 5" optical format for music.
