From the good old times:
"Musictap reports that...
Columbia will release an SACD version of Aerosmith's Rocks... on Dec. 28.
"Columbia announces that an SA-CD version of Aerosmith's 'Rocks' will be available just slightly after Christmas. It's an exciting piece of news for several reasons. The first is that..hey, it's Aerosmith and it's one of their bestsellers. Secondly, it means that 'Get Your Wings' may yet make it to this format. It also shows commitment by Sony for the continuance of the format. December 28th.""

Here is the weird thing--a poster on Steve Hoffman's SH Forum Music Corner board just scarfed the SACD of "Rocks" from a chain store in California--the post even has photos of him holding the single layer stereo disc, which he says sounds fantastic.
Here's da link:

Silly -- I just came across this page on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004SGNL and wondered whether this was again one of those discs that was planned but never actually released. I was just about to post a question when I found this thread which initially seemed to confirm my suspicions until I scrolled further down.
