That Kal Rubinson fellow sure gets around! Very excellent compilation, 7T. I only wish his column was monthly instead of bi~monthly!

You can always perpetrate a hostile takeover of "The Audio Cheapskate" column and start reviewing all those budget German Membran Imports in phony surround!

And whether you consciously realize it or not, you're practically writing a daily column for SA~CDnet.
Perhaps Zeus will put you on the payroll......

Interesting but I am not convinced that the Ayre is worth $10 K, having auditioned earlier models of Ayre that for me never lived up to the review hype .

+1, but who do you trust these days beyond Kal?

A somewhat humorous aside. I rarely read Stereophile, but do appreciate Kal's articles. Really. However I recently read in astonishment that tech wizard Atkinson didn't know that that was Ella Fitzgerald in one of the most iconic Jazz photos of all time (the one with the Ellington watching her sing), and Stereophile's Mr. Gillette (aka Sam Tellig) certainly raised some eyebrows with his recommendation for Armor-All on optical discs (OK it's been awhile) along his unabashed promotion of UK audio gear (along with UK audio loving Tone Audio). In-depth reviews of audio gear sans the hyperbole is rare, and that's why I like HIFI CRITIC which makes other audio publications read as 'audio-lite', unfortunately HIFI CRITIC always seems to be on the verge of disappearing from existence altogether. The glossy duo of Six Moons and Tone Audio (Bentley car review anyone?) have me wondering if they're not more about pretty pictures than audio reviewing. The high-ceiling listening room often seen in Six Moons is photographed in such provocatively staged architectural shots that at first glance I thought Architectural Digest had suddenly appeared in my hands. On the plus side, Tone and Six Moons would make useful Kitty litter box liners.

Teresa has been severely chastised on these pages for daring to post links to her articles or blogs, while Kal gets a free-hand with a dedicated thread on top of it. There's no need to compare anyone, but this looks like a blatant case of double-standards.

Yes but Kal posts sense whilst DSD mostly nonsense
