Post by TROLL-Buster November 19, 2010 (1 of 2)
In 1997 B3 Classic was awarded a Paris International Grand Prix Pierre Lantier.
Since then they have performed regularly in concert hall in Europe.
A concert tour of Great Britain and an invitation to the prestigous Cheltenham International music festival recorded by the BBC.
They recorded the soundtrack for Dr Vesalius for the London Film Festival.(winner of several international awards).
The above is extracted from the 36 page booklet supplied with this disc inserted.
Im just curious about about part time amatuer musicians reveiwing this disc and making a comparison with players of their own calibre?
Meanwhile as I had reservations about this disc prior to my first listen due to this review I began trying to convince myself of the so called faults.
This is obviously a very hi rez recording ie NOT your middle of the road 44.1 so beloved by a few.
I did find the Brahms less interesting than the Bruch and the disc starts better than it finishes. I feel as though that work is rarely played for good reasons.
To me it seems that another release of the Brahms trio in sacd was hardly vindicated despite the recording made on BIS being 44.1 level.
