Thank you Sibelius secundus. Your review has moved an interesting performance of very interesting music into my collection.

The title piece, O'Regan's reprocessing of Machaut's music, reminds me of a wonderful quartet piece by Glenn Buhr which "reconstructs" Beethoven's Op. 132. The performances of Machaut's own music are unlike anything I have heard before , perhaps partly due to the SACD resolution, but clear and refreshing where I have learned to expect black-robed mumblers. The inclusion of Gavin Bryar's Super flumina is a much appreciated bonus -- no, I do NOT like Bryars' "Jesus' Blood Ne'er Failed Me Yet" but I love his quartets.

This disc finds its way back into my player over and over again. Many recordings I listen to repeatedly because I'm studying them, but this disc is pure pleasure. The more familiar I become with it, the more I like it. I have yet to tire of hearing it, both because it is so accessible and at the same time unusual and surprising enough to hold my interest.

It seemed natural to me to spread the word that this is a disc everyone needs to check out. I'm glad you found my review useful.
