I thought it was mentioned somewhere on this forum that all players feed PCM through their analogue outputs so a conversion from DSD within the player is inevitable when you connect through the analogue output (anyway, how can an analogue output carry Direct-stream DIGITAL?) - as I said, I am not an expert in this.

There are several players that convert DSD directly to analog. The PCM conversion usually happens when one engages some sort of signal processing such as distance correction or bass management.

The OPPO BDP~83 SE ($899) utilizing the analogue outputs will ensure that DSD is fed directly into your receiver and it also has HDCD and supposedly has better blu-ray specs/ DVD~upsampling than the Cambridge Azur.

Both the Oppo BDP-83 and the BDP-83SE can convert DSD directly to analog and handle HDCD. The SE has a higher quality analog section and DAC's, so its analog output sounds best of the two. But, if you use HDMI, as I do, then they are both equivalent. IN DSD mode, neither will do distance correction or bass management.

I got an answer from the OPPO distributor here. Unfortunately none of the OPPO Blue-Ray players have a European version, so they are not distributed here. Moreover, their flagship player DV983HD has been discontinued and I can only get the DV981HD :(

What is the voltage and frequency of AC power in Hungary?

I am absolutely shocked and amazed that the Euro version of the BDP-83 was withdrawn. I am sure it will be re-released there eventually. The bugs in the US version seem pretty much all worked out. I am sure they are not going to wait for the eventual next-generation 3D version (yawn).

According to a recent conversation with the OPPO tech service, they are definitely going to come out with a 3~D blu-ray version of the BDP~83 (yawn, is right).....Will it be called the OPPO~BDP~83 3D SE version?Stay tuned!

How about BDP-83DDD-SE?

Once again: Voltage and AC frequency are NO PROBLEM with new Oppo players, they are 110-240V 50 and 60 Hz out of the box. The only thing you might need is the power lead which fits your local wall plug, available in every half decent electrical suppy store.

Second: They ARE AVAILABLE in Europe, in both region A (America) and hacked region free versions.

I ordered mine from CRT Projectors in Britain and will be getting it today (BDP-80).

Wow! Thanks for letting know. They deliver BDP-80 and -83 provided with the right mains cables to any European Union country. Too bad that only the more expensive BDP-83 provides DSD through the analogue outputs. If only I could compare how the two (DSD and PCM) sound before I decide.
