It's that time of year and as there are not many holiday's SACDs, I took a chance on this one despite a less than stellar review. I was quite pleasantly surprised by the electic mix of jazz, pop and classical voices comprising an ample selection of 20 Christmas chestnuts. Unlike the only other review on this forum, I did not find the sound at all recessed and the voices, especially Placido Domingo's, were strong and suggested hi~rez. Recorded LIVE in Vienna in 2000, orchestration is provided by the Ralph Sharon Quartet and the Vienna Symphony conducted by Steven Mercurio. Before it goes OOP, one can purchase this new and used at Amazon (US) for between $8 and $9 with the requisite $2.98 s/h (which is much cheaper than a martini in Manhattan). Enjoy!
