Is that the only release? Let's hope it's the beginning of a new series.

I presume it's the Japanese arm of Universal Music that is behind it?

John,
My sentiments exactly. Hopefully more to come

For what it's worth, the longstanding British music critic Richard Osborne wrote that a performance he attended once at a Salzburg Festival of Curzon playing K595 [ with Szell conducting the VPO ] was the finest performance he ever heard of the work.

I agree completely. This could be very exciting. I have a long list of suggestions if TEAC would like it.

Anyone know what the pricing is going to look like?

Zeus, any information? Solitary promotion project like the Davis/ Beethoven disc? Beginn of a Decca re-release series like Living Stereo or Mercury? That would be great. But I am sceptical whether Universal would give its licences for such a project. But sometimes personal connections help to make wonders become reality. - Will there be a chance to buy them via amazon?

Details here (in Japanese):

http://www.teac.co.jp/news/news2008/20080926-01.html
http://www.teac.co.jp/audio/esoteric/disc/0809.html

It's just another recording licensed and remastered by Teac. Distribution, like that of the earlier title, is likely to be limited.

I hope that it will actually be a first SACD in a new DECCA Esoteric SA-CD series... Just imagine 50 SACDs in this fabulous edition on your bookshelf :-)) in case of audio quality and lets say prestige it would be worth 500 CD/mp3 albums IMHO:-))So no matter how hard it will be to get these piano concertos on Esoteric DECCA SACD I will definitely be getting it.

Secondly, whether it will end up as a new DECCA SACD series or not, I'm quite sure it won't be the last Esoteric SACD to be released, see the attached links for their previous SA-CD releases.

they even have a few Esoteric BMG RCA Red Seal SACD’s

PS it's good to see that hi-end audio company like Esoteric backs up DSD and not mp3 or CD low resolution formats. It's another signal to SACD haters they should already put to rest their "SACD is dead " talk.
