As of 11:00 AM August 30, on the east coast of the United States clicking on the CD Universe link for purchase of this set yields an unexpected result!

Damn, had me excited for a minute.

Amazon is $65, Amazon Canada is (almost) $30 + shipping...hopefully the price will come down some time. I've been wanting this one since I read the MusicWeb review a couple weeks ago, and the nice review just posted here solidafies it.

No idea how many people have bought this disc(s)? We did so for two reasons: premier recording of neglected Saint-Saens repertory; Melba's growing reputation for producing very fine state-of the Art DSD recordings.

We have not been disappointed in any way. The whole presentation - packaging, production, performance and recording are exemplary in every way. It's a purchase to treasure. The music will not disappoint and although one might quibble at the French pronunciations of the very English speaking soloists this is about as close as we are ever going to get to 'being there' in the room.

There's nothing much more to add to Graeme's review, this is one of those rare delights in the SACD catalogue that is so easily missed. Please try not to, more than a few knowing colleagues on here will absolutely love it.

Yeah I bought it a long time ago for a reasonable price despite my post above (likely from MDT but who knows...).
I agree it's a fantastic set -- just recently listened to Helene again in fact. But than again, I'm a Saint-Saens "completionist" so I had to buy it anyway.

Glad to know someone else is too.

Really good disc.

Only downside is that in my experience Melba recordings are amongst the worst sounding SACDs out there.

Was this post from another 'hiredfox'? :)
