A recording of "Ein Heldenleben" with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra under Manfred Honeck is due to be released by Exton. According to the HMV Japan website it will be available in late September.
As far as I know, this is the first Japanese SACD involving an American orchestra. Perhaps other US orchestras will follow.

For a program of "lighter" Strauss Caro Mitis' 0062005, "Delicate Strauss" is terrific. The major work is the oboe concerto, coupled with some transcriptions for oboe and chamber orchestra. The Polyhymnia engineered MC sound is almost startlingly realistic in a fifth row kind of perspective. Alexei Utkin may not be John de Lancie (the recently deceased long time principal oboist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, whose visit with Strauss following WWII inspired the concerto), and the twenty piece Hermitage Chamber Orchestra sure isn't the Philadelphia Orchestra, whose playing of the piece is a fond memory, but this disc is very special in its own way.
