The list of Richard Strauss recordings on SACD is growing. Oehms and Pentatone accounced the release of several tone-poems a few weeks ago, and now the Concertgebouw Orchestra follows suit with "Eine Alpensymphonie" and "Don Juan", conducted by Mariss Jansons. I found this information on the HMV Japan site. Let's hope a decent "Also sprach Zarathustra" will follow soon.

The recent goings on at BMG/Sony will hopefully allow Luisi to complete his Dresden cycle which should be, based on the current offerings, more than "decent"!

As stated in a previous thread (/showthread/28335/29998/y#29998), RCO Live seems to have a busy releasing schedule this year: before the the Strauss/Jansons disc we'll have a Alban Berg disc with Daniele Gatti conducting (HMV Japan already lists it as in stock). So, the total number of new SACDs this year from RCO Live will be 5.

polly you worry me - i hadn't made the link between the sony/bmg thingy and a possible discontinuation of the superb luisi/dresden/strauss series.
let us fervently hope it is not affected. it's probably the single best set of purchases i've made since my SACD collection started.
the luisi/dresden bruckner 9 is forthcoming.

Seconded, and I have a little order for jpc.de ready to go as soon as the Bruckner makes their new releases list.

The Reiner "Also sprach Zarathurstra" RCA Living Stereo SACD is a splendid recording of a great performance.

I should have said "a decent modern performance". Reiner's accounts of Strauss tone-poems on SACD hold a special place in my collection.

if you can wait luisi/dresden/sony should appear eventually, and should be excellent in both sound and performance.
