Just a reminder about Julia Fischer's Prom concert

If you're not resident in the UK, you can listen live or any time during the following seven days. Unfortunately, the sound for non-UK residents isn't good. UK residents can access via the web the new iPlayer which gives much better sound, I'm told.

Has DG made any commitments to Julia releases on SACD?

And I want skimpier clothes on the album covers!

According to IMG Artists Julia Fischer's first recording for Decca will be released in January 2009 and feature works by Bach. There was no mention of the format.

I've been listening to these today from the USA using the iPlayer. The sound is streaming 64Kbps, so roughly FM radio quality I guess. It's very listenable on a computer, but the sound does get muddy during the louder parts. Of course, Julia's playing does not disappoint and it's always fun to hear her play something we haven't heard before. Her Brahms seems to have improved with time... the second movement is incredible. The links are also worth listening to for the brief interviews with Yakov and Julia.
