When I play a regular CD followed by playing a hybrid SACD, the player defaults to the CD layer of the hybrid SACD and I have to switch it back to the SACD layer every time manually. This is annoying. I looked through the manual and there isn't anything I could find that addresses this. Is this the way this thing is supposed to operate?

This only happens after playing a regular CD. If I play a hybrid SACD after a non-hybrid SACD or even another hybrid SACD, it will default to the SACD layer. Weird. Is there a fix for this? Am I missing something?

That's how it is. I have never seen a solution.

The quickest way is the push the SACD button next to the drive *before* you put in a hybrid SACD after you played a CD. That way the player will immediately go to the SACD layer.

IMHO that's not a big deal. You just have to think about it, to avoid playing the CD layer accidently (Oh, the horror).

Sorry for stating the obvious, but is there a firmware update that resolves this? Have you got the latest firmware installed?

It is the same with Sony SCD-1 top player. But the display is big enough to show the difference...

The Sony SACD/CD players' firmware cannot be updated.

I'm glad to see there is nothing wrong with my player, but I must say that this is pretty poor engineering or operational design, especially for a top of the line piece like this. Thankfully it sounds so good that I'm willing to put up with it.
