I thought the same thing but didn't mention it. I've never paid tax on Yourmusic.com either. My understanding is you only pay tax for online retailers when they have a brick and mortar store in your state. Since Yourmusic.com is basically an online music club/store, I'm not sure they have a physical presence anywhere but I could be wrong.

I live in New York and as of June 1, Amazon.Com (US) is now charging NY residents sales tax. YourMusic does charge NY sales tax but for $6.99 per disc (and FREE shipping w/ no minimum) one cannot complain! Let's be honest: New York IS the rip off capital of the world!!!!!!!

Not according to this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/2665007.stm - it doesn't even make the top 10!

How many SACDs does YourMusic stock? I can't find more than two dozen or so listed. Is there some trick I'm missing?

I never said they carry a large amount. To someone entering the sacd arena for the first time, they have some out of print items (Lalya, The Carpenters, LSO Live) and between them and their parent company, BMG music, I procured the Dylan sacds for about $7 a pop. they also had Goodbye Yellow Brick Road for $13.99 (2 sacds/dvd) for $13.99 and most of the Elton John sacds. They also have some great deals on cd/dvd issues for $6.99 which go for $24.99 at my local F.Y.E store....but that's another story......

I too try and use the linked sites, but if that does not work, I also like Arkiv Music (http://www.arkivmusic.com)....Arkiv has undoubtedly the best classical selection I have ever seen and offer labels (not just SACD) from companies I have never heard of...

Cheers,

I only had one issue with Caiman and it was the Doors DVD-A box set which I paid $115 + $2.98 shipping for (awesome price) but it arrived with a massive dent in the box that wasn't from shipping because the box was fine.

It took nearly three months to get my refund.

For over 20 other SACD single disc purchases I have had zero issues with them and will continue to use them for non-box set purchases.

Best Buy online and Amazon have some great selections at the moment new for under $20 and plenty for under $15. I just picked up Bryan Ferry's Boys and Girls SACD new from Amazon for $11.97, a week before they started charging tax to NY.

I have had multiple problems with them selling things they don't have in stock. I bought ELP - Brain Salad Surgery on DVD-A 2 times and Kraftwerk Minimum Maximum - SACD and didn't receive any of the above. I won't even bother if they are listing a hard to get item.

cd stores in hungary have a small range of sacds. for this reason
i place my orders for sacds at jpc via e-mail. when composing an
order i always refer to the homepage http://www.sa-cd.net/ which
is my main source of information. an item in my order is always
written as:

Label: MPS-Record
Serial: 811296
Title: Oscar Peterson: "Exclusively for My Friends Vol. 4: My Favorite Instrument"
Source of information: Oscar Peterson: My Favorite Instrument
Order number: 9864906
Your Price: Euro 15.99

i pay by a mastercard.

the services provided by jpc seem to be good:
(a) the sacds they offer are not overpriced
(b) their homepage is informative (i can follow the history of my
order with ease)
(c) the shipping cost is acceptable (euro 5.99)
(d) in most cases i have a chance to listen to a one minite long part
of each track (a track listing is generally offered to a customer)

Not always true with Berkshire -- they've had cheap Telarcs forever (I'd guess since 2004). I've gotten some nice RBCD Telarcs for $3 from them. They even occasionally have pretty new stuff, like the SACD of Bernstein's Mass (Nagano) on Harmonia Mundi, which was something like $14, probably not too much over a year after it came out.

thanks for the tips, guys.I ordered about half a dozen Telarcs for $5 each including the Spano Kullervo plus a few others. They arrived about a weeek later. Very happy with them and this site

I use SA-CD site exclusively to buy my SACD's from Amazon.fr,.de,com or .ca (hardly ever .co.uk which is where I live!). I find being able to compare price at various markets the best way to source a good deal, Tubular Bells (new) from Canada for 15 UK pounds (happy big smile). Its such a good search facility that I hope the site makes enough cash from the referalls, as its the best facility I've come across.

Really great work.

Thanks
