Oh, another question though: Do Tahra products eventually make it to Amazon USA? It would be great to avoid oversea shipping costs. : )

Tahra no longer seems to have a U.S. distributor, but you can order direct from them via their web site at http://www.tahra.fr/contact.php. I was able to obtain the Furtwangler SACD from them for 16 Euros (about US$25) shipped.

First impressions of the new SACD transfer are that it is a shade crisper than the original Tahra CD release, with low-level detail coming through more cleanly. The original CD was already excellent, miles ahead of a Japanese transfer I used to own, so it's not a night-and-day difference. But I'm pleased to have a performance of this stature in what is probably the best sound it's ever going to get. The new disc omits the brief excerpt on the earlier disc of Furtwangler talking about the Ninth Symphony.
