So do we all, I guess. However, of the many "improvements" suggested in this thread (apart from green vs bluray) there has been little scientific debunking.
What is SID, for example? Why would this work, or not?

Dear Peter Hissing Sid was the Snake that was used to make the very expensive shoes which were later oiled. He was also responsible for the noise made by analogue tapes. Whether he worked or not is part of the topic in conversation. It seems he works sometimes in one particular colour light. Come to think of it I know someone like that. Her names not Sid though. Peter you must try harder to follow these threads.LOL.

Oh, Hissing Sid! Wasn't he assssociated with British Gasssss?
Seriously, though, has the green ink been debunked? I would have thought if it made a difference discs would be pressed like that.

I think we could all pick up some valuable pointers here: http://www.badscience.net/?p=699 Although I have always been partial to supplementing my room with genetically engineered and cultivated bio-diffusers to help reduce unwanted sound waves, the article sadly fails to highlight a suitable genus for listening to acoustic music.

the SID is a $39 green cd damper which sits atop the disc.....any optical disc including dualdiscs. Amusicdirect carries all the "tweaks" I recommended and you can read what they have to say on their website. It is NOT suitable for a car player (that baby will be sucked right in), and you very carefully have to align it to the disc with your finger but I and a lot of my audiophile friends swear by it. How it works and exactly what it does (but it definitely works) is subjective. With all the cynicism on this forum regarding my tweaks (which really DO work) has me thinking that I'm trying to shove a cow down the throat of a vegetarian.

More like trying to get a university physics professor to abandon his curriculum and teach http://www.timecube.com instead, but... hey... that could happen, too.
