Which just so happens to have specification for 24-bit 192kHz sound recordings. For those of us that don't mind switchign on our display to set the medium in motion.

Yes, but it's not a Blu-ray Audio disc.
There will be more music Blu-ray discs coming out, in addition to the DVD version, but I don't think audio-only discs will happen, except maybe a few audiophile releases.
DVD also offers a higher resolution than CD (up to 96kHz/24bit PCM), but very few labels released audio-only DVDs to take advantage of that.

Fair point.
In reality, I do think that Blu Ray musical releases will be almost exclusively of concerts. Good for classical and opera fans if live concerts are recorded with the aim of getting the best out of the event. You may be able to say, "it's like I am there". This has great potential in my view.
About the DVD point, I thought the bandwidth was limited so oyu coudl onyl have 2 channels at that word length and sampling frequency. Correct me if I am wrong anyone (without getting into teh 2-channel VS MCH debate!).

The new "A Midsummer Night's Dream" BluRay release from Opus Arte features Mendelssohn's great music in 16-bit PCM sound in 2.0 and 5.1 channels.

WOW, what a progress! I don't get it. Why do they do that?
Is uncompressed 16 bit PCM better than lossless compressed DTS or DTS 24/96?

Because it's a video disc, and most people (including the producers) don't care about their sound.
Blu-ray wasn't invented for better sound, but luckily for us audiophiles the potential for better sound was included. But you can't expect video producers to make use if it, if they are clueless about sound quality in general (as can be judged from the poor sound of most music DVDs in any genre).

This is more like it: Music only Blu-ray from 2L in stereo and 5.1. uncompressed sound with 192 kHz sampling:
http://www.2l.no/2LPreView.htm
Comparison with the SACD version will be interesting
