Please choose at least 5 and list specific albums, not just artists!
Here's the first ten that came to my head ...
1) Jean-Luc Ponty "Enigmatic Ocean" 2) Return To Forever "Romantic Warrior" 3) Mahavishnu Orchestra "Apocalypse" 4) Herbie Hancock "Man-Child" 5) Milt Jackson "Sunflower" 6) Weather Report "Black Market" 7) Al Di Meola "Casino" 8) Jeff Beck "Wired" 9) Tony Williams Lifetime "Collection" 10) George Benson "Breezin"

Here you go:
Return to Forever: Romantic Warrior Weather Report: Black Market Al Di Meola: Elegant Gypsy Jeff Beck: Blow by Blow Herbie Hancock: Headhunters
... and be careful what you wish for because some of them like RTF are not much of an improvement
Wow, thanks! I didn't even know some of those titles were on SACD, however they appear to be 2 channel only - no wonder they don't sound like they should based on the lukewarm reviews I've read. With most fusion groups being a minimum of 4 musicians and the music being as complex and layered as it is, it would only seem right to space them apart in a 5.1 environment, especially considering the material was recorded thirty years ago to flimsy analog tape.
Regardless, I feel Jean-Luc Ponty's top 3 albums "Imaginary Voyage" (1976), "Enigmatic Ocean" (1977) and "Cosmic Messenger" (1978) deserve the multichannel SACD treatment moreso than any other fusion artist or album. I'm surprised when doing a search for "Ponty" the only threads that show up are mine.
And I found the Stereo/MCH SACD of "Head Hunters" recently at my local CD store - for only $7.99! "Blow By Blow" is probably my next purchase.

No argument on Jean-Luc Ponty, that would be quite awsome, but like he seems to have been oblivious to any Remasters or Reissue of any kind (to my knowledge) I wouldn't hold my breath. On a different note, as a fan of 70's fusion you might want to check the following:
Helmet of Gnats
Not from the 70's but could have been.

Although I like 70's fusion, I'm not particularly in need for SACD reissues, as the jazz recording quality in the 70's was at it's low. Engineers and producers were abusing of the new possibilities of multitrack recording
From the SACDs listed above, only "Headhunters" and "Elegant Gypsy" do SACD justice as far as the recording quality is concerned.
Only from the multichannel point of view, it would make sense to release the quadro mix of these sessions (where available), or remix the multi-track masters for surround.
The list of existing SACDs with 70's fusion would also include Miles Davis:
Miles Davis: In A Silent Way Miles Davis: Black Beauty Miles Davis: Live-Evil Miles Davis: Big Fun Miles Davis: Dark Magus Miles Davis: Bitches Brew Miles Davis: Get Up With It Miles Davis: On the Corner Miles Davis: A Tribute to Jack Johnson
Yes, I meant to state in my original thread that any albums you post would be done in multichannel. I've become biased against spending my money on stereo-only titles until I hear some examples that truly blow me away. So far, I'm not convinced after buying and later selling my copy of "Head Hunters". I now own the MCH/Stereo version.
I have e-mailed Jean-Luc Ponty's site regarding SACD possibilities, but have not yet received a response. We'll see what the future brings.
As for Miles, I would rather hear John McLaughlin in 5.1 on "Jack Johnson" and the percussion distant from Miles trumpet on "Black Satin" (reminds me to pick up Panthalassa again on CD - excellent mixing by Laswell)
At least we have the rumor that Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" will be available on SACD this coming February. To hear "Have A Cigar" in multichannel would be a blessing.
I am awaiting delivery of Earth Wind & Fire's "Gratitude" and "Alive in 75" and my next two will purchases will likely be Isley Brothers "3 + 3" and Jeff Beck's "Blow By Blow" on SACD and Steely Dan's "Gaucho" on DVD-A.
Keep your comments coming!

1) Jean-Luc Ponty "Enigmatic Ocean"
I actually prefer Cosmic Messenger; "Ethereal Mood" and "Egocentric Molecules" is good stuff.
