The Sibelius/Kamu and the Rysanov.
I received confirmation that my usual UK supplier shipped both of these several days ago, and yes, that was two weeks or so later than expected. There is one US supplier that seems to have all BIS product available earlier than any other source but it's not linked here so shall remain nameless.

Then your local store should order it from our distributor. We've had it for ages now.
The 1863 contains the Copland Clarinet Concerto, both in its final form and the "unplayable" original version (too difficult for Benny Goodman), 4 Hungarian Dances by Brahms, Lutoslawski: Dance Preludes, Hillborg: Peacock Tales, Piazzolla: Oblivion, G. Fröst: Klezmer, Högberg: Dancing with Silent Purpose. One of BIS's highpoints - alltime.
With us early November.
Robert
Thanks, Robert! The program for the forthcoming Fröst/ACO disc sounds (sic!) really terrific! I take your words of its merits, and am already eagerly looking forward to it.
As for the 1880, my local store has indeed ordered it from your distributor in Finland (Fg-Naxos), but your distributor hasn't released it yet, for some reason.
By the way, are we going to get a new Kalevi Aho disc this year?

HMV will only stock items that they think they can move on quickly now. .....
I didn't make it clear I was referring to their online sales, where the items are advertised for order. Months later, an email arrives telling the item cannot be supplied, or, in more than one case (not BIS), that it has been deleted, which it hasn't been. I managed to get the items including the BIS ones elsewhere in the UK later, of course.

You should be aware that there are two separate releases for each BIS title, one for Europe and another for USA. Robert can maybe tell us why. The USA release normally follows at a later date. The logic for links to vendors from this site is to select the cheaper version (lowest new price) which may, in some cases, not be the one you're after if you're more keen on just obtaining it. If availability is unacceptable or looks vague, it may be worth your while doing a search on the title/composer/performer on the vendor site. This mainly applies to Amazon which often lists both.
No, dear zeus, there is only one release, and that's when we get the item in stock. From that date any of my distributors can buy at will. Some do, immediately, like in Germany, some others wait and work with advance copies to gauge reception and pursuant sales.
USA usually wants to see and listen to something before they commit, but not always - if they know what's what, like the Suzuki Bach Cantata series, they take it on trust. UK are invariably the last, as they want to see the reviews first. It is not up to me to decide when and if my customers want to buy, so I can only ask those that don't want to wait, to write to the distributor(s) to speed them up. Or give your custom to the country, where the new releases are made available instantly and always are in stock.
As I think I have said before, we don't want to put the news up on our website, until we know that there is a reasonable chance to actually be able to buy it, i.e. the items are in stock with the distributors. Thus we have to wait a little.
Robert

I don't understand fully understand the stock issue but here in Singapore, HMV sells BIS CDs and SACDs and usually we can get them pretty quickly on release date. For out of stock item, HMV can also help us to order with estimated arrival date within a couple of days to about 2 weeks.
PS: I am not affiliated with HMV just that that's the one and only place in Singapore that stocks BIS stuff.

Just a comment on availability...I've been trying to purchase Hindemith: Orchestral Works - Neschling from J&R in Manhattan for weeks now, and it never seems to be available (they just had a sale on Qualiton-distributed brands, including BIS, and was especially hoping to get it then).
I know I can order it online, but I like to patronize the last big brick-and-mortar in NYC; and in any case it's cheaper.

Let's keep this a BIS thread.
Yes, please do.
BIS discs have some of the best written program notes.
However, I do feel that the recording details are not given its due and are usually outlayed briefly in smallest font at the back page of the sleeve notes. I am sure the average SACD lovers would yearn to read more into the recording background - for instance the recording venue, it acoustics, the microphones set-up, some photos of the recording sessions etc.
And yes, please use bigger font for the print as classical music lovers are usually 'old' people who do not usually have very good eye-sight :), but we have sharp ears!
