I completely concur about the Bruch - it has been in "heavy rotation" since the first play. In addition, the nrw Hindemith disc just became available from an unnamed vendor and I'm hoping to have it in my possession by the weekend.

The BIS page is not working on my computer at the moment - do you experience the same?

Yes, unfortunately. Our host, surftown, was situated in Copenhagen, Denmark, a city that has been plagued by the heaviest torrential rains and flooding, ever.
It would seem that their servers were simply drowned. I was without email for three days, and they are busily repairing the rest.

Oh - thank you for the reply, at the moment it seems that the main page doesn't work - some templates are working again, only the idex.php is not accessable.
Good luck!! Thanks, Jakob.

At least it is comforting to know that countries other than GB are being washed away by torrential rain this summer - plenty of time to stay indoors and listen to music...

The recent BIS SACD release from Gothenburg ,Mälki ,Karneus Mahler Songs has not been reviewed here yet. But after having now listened to it three times,I find it simply fantastic!
There is a review on the Music Web in a link here , which uses Baker and Fassbaender as references.I am not familiar with the Fassbaender one but I have the Baker Barbirolli LP and it is very good.My own past reference for these genial works have been Karajan, Christa Ludwig. And as beautiful as they too are, this one is so excellent that it can IMO easily stand comparison with both Baker and Ludwig.
Katharina Karneus is simply one of the very best mezzos worldwide at present IMO.
Not only is she a fantastic singer and interpreter of these Mahler songs, her German is also excellent and she sounds really at home in this repertoire.

Ps THE GSO play very well under Mälki too and the realistic BIS recording complements an altogether stunning release
NOT to be missed: Recommended with enthusiasm !
