I have been advised that the retailer is MDT and I have ordered the BIS Litton Rite of Spring cost £10.95 incl. postage ,does this make me a jerk ? Perhaps you are peeved because I drew attention to your Pride & Joy Marantz SA11 S2 as What Hi-Fi ? says Low frequencies could be better controlled & described, lack of Bottom end rigour. exactly as I found on the Marantz SA7-S1 .

...and still nobody is listening..........

Ordering from MDT is one thing. Discussing MDT here when Zeus has politely asked us not to promote vendors other than those linked to the site is something else entirely. It's unfortunate that you don't seem to get it.

I did not know of this polite request by Zeus . I only saw the post by Seth who said he was not naming the retailer because they were not associated with this site. Quite frankly it makes no sense to me not to name retailers who are giving the consumer a good deal, especially as there are so many rip-off merchants around, I also object to manufacturers selling goods much cheaper in the US then the UK . How does a vendor become linked to this site ?

It appears your speakers are not good enough to reveal the deficiencies of your obese Marantz SA7-S1 easily heard on my Transmission lines that go down to 18 Hz . If no one else notices that's their problem.

See the very top thread: "Welcome! Please read this before posting (updated February 6, 2011)"

Rule #2: Avoid posting links to online vendor sites, supported or otherwise. This site is totally dependent for its upkeep on sales through the linked vendors and using the encoded links provided and diversion to other vendors undermines the site's support foundation.

Thanks for the info: Sorry Zeus I am guilty of not reading the small print. Will not repeat the same mistake.

My copy of Ma Vlast is also in a normal square CD box and was purchased from a respect UK retailer. I find no problem with the sound.

BUT I am quite suspicious of some one with the monicker "You will never know".

Humor. Robert von Bahr and others at BIS have my specifics.

Yes, I did, and do apologize.
No, very unfortunately there are no such plans. The Jephta is, BTW, no BIS recording, but a tape that was offered us and, while we couldn't influence the recording, we thought it had such qualities that it deserved to be released, especially as it is a 2-for-1 CD of extreme duration.

Best - Robert

No problem...
What a shame - I thought that there are many other things to release... at least with his Stavanger Orchestra, where he does great baroque opera and oratorio performances which are never to be found on commercial labels.... maybe some day there will be another tape which is worth being released...

Thank you for the reply!
Best, Jakob

I always liked BIS cd's I remember buying my first BIS cd in the mid 80's
it was Vivaldi 4 seasons by The Drottningholm Baroque ensemble.(CD-275)
About 18 months ago I embrassed SACD's and since did buy a dozen or so BIS SACD's but to my ears in my system none of them come close musically or sonically to this first BIS RBCD, it is still one of my fav demo disc.
It is a difficult cd for lot's of system to reproduce correctly but if the system is good, my God it can sound stunning.
Maybe I just bought lesser audio quality SACD's and I would be curious if anybody could recomend some that sounds as good as BIS-CD-275

I have had serious problems with the fidelity the BIS recording of Smetana's Ma Vlast like no other, when played on my Arcam FMJ CD-37. The distortion issues are limited to this particular disk. However, my car stereo plays the disk without such problems, and no one else seems to have the problem. The performance is good and the aggressive sound picture is appropriate to the music. No one else is reporting problems.

The producer of the disk kindly examined my copy and found no issue with the sound. So, at least for those of you who do not own the Arcam FMJ CD-37, I can recommend this disk.

I would be reluctant to rank the quality of the performance in preference to Kubelik's performance with the Bavarian Radio Symphony on Orpheo or Smetacek's performance of the Moldau portion of Ma Vlast with the Czech Phil. on Supraphon. Nevertheless, it is a fine, heart-felt performance.

I would especially like to thank Ingo Petrie of BIS for assistance in examining my copy for manufacturing issues. He didn't find any.
