Yes, I "love" it when I see people like this website owner so obviously shoot themselves in the foot. Really, a new owner is needed.

Yes, it's time to ramble on.

Retrograde-format fanatic that I am (I still buy books, can you believe it?), I do hope, though, that BIS will continue to put out SACDs. One of the (many) things BIS does well is constructing programmes, both within the confines of individual discs and across series. Like a concert, a record is a discrete and meaningful aesthetic unit, and one worth preserving. Yes, theoretically an album can exist "virtually", but the practical upshot of the download culture is atomized and decontextualized listening. My brother-in-law likes the song "Sunday Morning" but when I start talking about the Velvet Underground & Nico I get a blank look . . .

Anyway, adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu!

I also still buy books. And to be quite honest,my best music bargain recently is an LP of the Swedish composer Ingvar Lidholm's Music for Strings, and fittingly in this context, the work:"Greetings from an old world" and his orchestral work Kontakion, that I picked up at my local thrift shop together with one DGG music DVD'video, Böhm's Die Entführung aus dem Serail from 1980.Plus a boxed set of 3 EMI LPs, "The Glory of Kings" King's College Choir David Willcocks ranging from Palestrina to Britten for a total 5€!!
The Lindholm Caprice label LP is so good that I haven't yet even played the others.
Really excellently played and recorded in 1978 and 1979 at the Stockholm Concert Hall.
Absolutely fascinating music that I have played at least once a day for the past three days now.
Talking about books I also bought one of the most fascinating Autobiographies I have ever read from the same thrift shop for 1€.
"My young years and My many years" in one 959 pages thrilling volume, by Arthur Rubinstein.
Strongly recommended reading!

Am I still on BIS thread ??

Dear Robert,

BIS is one of my favourite labels and I share the opinion of those who do hope you will go on with producing SACD’s.

I know, at the end of the day it’s all about money, money, money and while I can see that we will be going towards high resolution downloads, or even worse: streaming, I will continue to cherish my (and your) silver disks. The more so because multi-channel downloads are (still) more expensive and I would need to buy a host of new equipment, costing me an arm and a leg. So, Robert, keep ‘m coming. I’ve reviewed several of yours (BTW none were freebees) and I hope to be able to continue whenever the occasion arises.

Stick with us, whatever move is in the offing.

Of course, most modern business owners listen and react to customer feedback.

It would be one thing to give it a rest, but this site owner has continued to be belligerent and often downright hostile.

Enough with the class-monitor bit. If I go into a shop (there's no fee for doing so), I expect to receive good service, whether I buy anything or not. Ultimately, the owner of this site hopes to make money through its users, so his constant tone of peevishness in dealing with them seems to me entirely counter-productive.

I thought I'd do Zeus the justice of checking out the new site. It looks good, though I'm not sure it's any more functional than the present site. A lot of work must have gone into it—and it must be frustrating for him to hear so much carping—but the fact is that he's removed the forum and therefore the community element, an element many of his customers value. That's his prerogative, of course, but it's also their prerogative to vote with their feet.

His grumpy rants are entertaining. Why complain? This site doesn't cost you anything. Free entertainment.

Ah, Robert the surprise guy!! Somehow I knew Bissie had something up his sleeve for this Sibelius season.

A complete Sibelius Symphony cycle with the Lahti Symphony under Okko Kamu on three BIS SACDs is coming our way. Due out end of September in Japan.

Yes, the one I've been waiting for. Kamu is a master. Of course, this was announced about 3 years ago, so it really isn't something new.
