Interesting. I expect B&O to follow suit at some point. They're not in the wrong camp or anything, they're just doing things at their own pace i.e. *extremely* slow.

I would certainly never expect to see Meridian on the 'SACD supporters' list of manufacturers!
I admit it's disappointing as far as some of the others are concerned.

I don't understand the purpose of this (rather short) list. Would it make a difference for the success of the format if these manufacturers made SACD players? I don't think hardware support is the problem. There are plenty of SACD players in all price ranges to choose from.
BTW, Electrocompaniet has announced some time ago that they have developped a multi-format player, but it hasn't seen the light yet:

Well, it wouldn't help much, but it would be a positive point. Some of these brands have many stalwarts. For example, there are some people waiting for a Rotel SACD player.

I saw it at a recent audio show. It wasn't playing, though, just a static exhibit.
Best, Igor
PS: it seems that the upcoming YBA Design YM501 multiformat player (part of their "budget" Y products) will play SACD.

You can add Musical Fidelity to the list: http://www.musicalfidelity.com/
I think the reasons some of these companies cite for not supporting SACD are disturbing.

About multiplayers: I think the high end companies should focus on audio-only players (CD, SACD), because currently it's unclear where video playback is going.
What's the point in buying a $2000 multiplayer that doesn't support HD video, or the wrong HD format when the format war is over? These machines are usually meant as long term investments.

hmmm... confused here I must say.
I sold my Musical Fidelity kW SACD Player some 2-3 weeks ago. I got a lot of my money back - so why not I thought. This one is still availible as new.
The only problem I have with MF is that their CD-players are almost as good as their SACD. OK - the SACD was a bit slow too...

Black List!!!!????
The idea of non-SACD black list is just absurd to me ...
Let's forget this for good ...
Esa
As supporters of SACD, we buy SACDs and players, right? As this format survives while CD is going down?
