The back of the disc refers to a website that I have been unable to access. I contacted Hungaroton who provided the following information.
"Unfortunately, the website www.bartoknewseries.com is not yet active, it will be available in appr. 3-4 weeks. The Bartók New Series will contain - the complete solo recording Kocsis made for Philips, -some of the works for piano and orchestra like Rhapsody and Scherzo which Kocsis also recorded for Philips (and Hungaroton -the distribution was shared), -everything else, either with piano or conducting (then made with Kocsis) or without piano or conducting will be completely new recording in the series."
Good news for Bartok fans!
This is indeed very welcome news! Looking forward to seeing some more SACD's from Hungaroton - thanks for the information!

I was always hoping that the Dorati/Mercury Bartok recordings would appear in time on SACD but that, of course, never happened and I presume never will now.
However this looks like a really excellent alternative.

I guess nobody here knows the "journal pizzicato". It's a very small monthly classical music magazine published in Luxembourg. The reviews are in french or german. "Supersonic" is their award for outstanding sound quality.
