I thought, for light relief, a thread for incredible claims might be useful to provide us with a chuckle or two along the way.
I'll kick it off with this: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15484873/
I'm not sure quite what to make of this but I'd be willing to wager a fair amount that this correspondant doesn't listen to accoustic music if he comes up with his conclusion.

It's funny, because I remember reading once in a review of an important hi-fi show that one room was using the Playstation on a good system directly to the amp, and apparently it compared favourably to more expensive units!
Worth the try anyway, you hear so many really bad 1000$ players out there!

I wonder how well (the various versions of) PS2 perform, but also PS3. Moreover however I'm looking forward to find out how well PlayStation 3 deals with Super Audio CD. Interestingly, PS3 does not have multi-channel analog outputs. Multi-channel output is only provided on the HDMI output.

Sony should rename it PRaystation 3, as it's betting the company's future on it.

True. They did the same with PS2 though, betting the farm with the enormous investment they did, especially in semiconductor manufacturing facilities. It worked out. This time even more may depend on it, however.

This month's grannyphone mentions the new Sony ES range SACD player and reviews valve ipod systems, the Bose Wave radio, and… the Quad ESL 2905 speaker. System anti-synergy, or the 'weakest link'?
Talking about laughter, since I read Harriet Smith's articlette in the same issue on Bang Bang a.k.a Lang Lang, I've put a post on the gramophone.co.uk forum in the Lang Lang thread of 'Instrumental' , regarding why he's also known as The Panda. As that is a dull, moderated forum, I want to see if it's censored.

My DJ son sent this oxymoron along to me:
Yes, I've come across that one too. I'm still not sure which I find a stanger anachronism: an iPod stuck in something that looks like a classical valve amplifier, or valves in an iPod dock...
This one's from Cayin, a brand that's made many a serious piece of HiFi equipment, including even an SACD player (the SCD-50T; see http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/av/docs/20050603/cayin.htm )
