... is it Briggs turning on his chair to switch consoles or pulling registers?)

I'm almost certain it is the sound of the registers switching.

Perhaps blasphemy, but you can still get this recording for crazy cheap in a non-SACD version.

Not the same, I want the MC experience.

You are completely right to want the MC version. If not this one, I could not imagine what recording would be suited for MC and SACD. In the BWV 540 Toccata after about 2 minutes there is a passage with a very low frequency, my guess is 20 to 30 Hz. You cannot hear it, but one can feel it (provided sufficient equipment is being used). My living room floor is trembling !!! MC aside, I cannot imagine that a normal CD being able to reproduce these subsonic sounds.

CD is inferior to SACD in many repects, but not in that one. Only top frequency range of SACD is better than CD. I'm sure the frequency that makes your floor treble is above 20Hz.

I have this, but I've never listened to it. It's still new and sealed in shrink wrap. I must have bought it a few years ago.

Are you interested in parting with it? E-mail me if so, please!

Since I started this recent spate of requests, maybe you'd consider let me buy it from you. email me at dweltman@optonline.net.
