I thought it would be interesting to represent graphically the progression of SACD titles added to SA-CD.net since February 2004.

The only caveat is that titles get added when I get around to them, hence the spikes and troughs.

Thanks!

It appears the average is about 60 per month, right?

How many of the almost 4000 SACDs listed on this site are still available?

It seems that an awful lot of the Japan-only releases are out of print. In Japan, most "classics" get reissued every 3-4 years, often with new remastering. Unforunately most albums which were released as SACDs at some time are now being reissued on DSD-rematered CD only.

Unfortunately, that is not an entirely reliable information, because when you click on Amazon links (.com, .co.uk, de, or .fr), very often the Amazon page says that the item is no longer available or is only available from Marketplace vendors.

Maybe I've been checking too many rare discs recently, but I have the impression that a lot of SACDs are going OOP, especially dual inventory discs or hybrid SACDs that were "quietly" replaced by CDs. As there are a number of companies which have stopped releasing new SACDs (especially pop and jazz labels), those labels will probably not repress SACDs once they are out of stock.

A couple of labels whose SACDs have become hard to find (some titles are easy to get, other very difficult):

- Eighty Eights: /alltitles/55
- Sony Japan: /alltitles/81
/alltitles/95
- Universal Classics Japan: /alltitles/336
- ABKO: /alltitles/50
- Audio Fidelity (limited edition): /alltitles/52
- SF Symphony (some symphonies) /alltitles/12
- Vanguard Classics: /alltitles/35

If you have some of these discs on your wishlist, better get them soon.

Unfortunately that's exactly my experience with this title:

Paul Van Dyk: Reflections

You can add the following....

SACDs from the The Police and Peter Gabriel (Universal Music)
Single-layer SACD titles from Sony Music in the US
Early SACD titles from First Impression Music (FIM)
