Ray,

Do you have any more plans to record with Joe McQueen and his group? I just got the 'Ten at 86' release and I'm floored by the performances and sound. I can't get enough of this disc - both sonically and musically.

For Ray Kimber (I am writing on the ISOMIKE Forum because I could not find a customer service button at the Isomike Official website)

Dear Mr. Kimber,

I have just received the FRY STRING QUARTET double SACD (Beethoven/Stravinsky/Rorem/etc) from Amazon.com. I had read excellent reviews about the recording. I do know your work and I must say I admire both Kimber Cable and Isomike projects. In fact, I happen to own and use various Kimber cables and love them. The problem is that one of the two SACDs is fatally defective. The Beethoven Quartet SACD won't play on ANY SACD player. I happen to own no less than five! It makes a strange ticking noise when I insert the disc and there is no reading at all. I have tried it on a Marantz SA 8003 in mint condition, a Marantz SA 7003 (brand new), a Cambridge Audio DVD89 and two Pioneers (these Pioneers read EVERYTHING). Result: the VERY SAME result when inserting DISC 1. Interestingly, the second SACD (Stravinsky/Rorem/Etc) is perfectly read by all machines and sounds SUPERB. I wanted to contact ISOMIKE for a replacement but there is no contact button at the website. I could neither find customer service buttons at Amazon. So here I am, having spent the money of a double SACD to get just one. I must admit, though, that the the one I am effectively able to hear is outstanding, both musically and sonically.

I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and this fact makes it quite difficult for me to ship the SACD to USA in order to get a replacement.

Thanks a lot, Ray, for your assistance.

Best wishes, Juan Hitters info@juanhitters.com.ar

I have to share with the SACD community that I have been immediately assisted by Isomike and they told me it seems to be that SONY has made a bad pressing on many of the Beethoven discs. They are providing two new titles for me as a compensation and they are working on the problem. Hats off to Isomike and their labour of love. A true pity they have to deal with this mess.
