My reservation against name and intentions of the new site are best viewed an article with the following link:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/billrosenblatt/2015/01/08/high-res-audio-makes-slow-progress-as-sony-and-neil-young-show-off-new-products-at-ces-2015/

It is a well know fact that sa-cd has the aura of a failed format. With the exeption of those who really listen to sa-cd's. This alone justifies a site dedicated to sa-cd only. Too bad it will disappear.

Ad Rhenum, a quote from the Forbes article spoke volumes: There is a problem in the way high resolution audio has been marketed.....it's still very much a work in progress!

Unlike 2K or 4K TV where the results are both qualitative and quantative.

That has always been my major gripe against the audio industry: they NEVER sufficiently pushed hi res to make it a mass marketed appeal item...whether DVD~A, SACD and now Blu Ray Audio. And most audio magazines have always been pro analogue turntables/vinyl records which, surprisingly, HAVE made 'somewhat' of an impact over HIGHER RES digital formats. The power of persuasion, I suppose.

And I do agree that the new direction of Zeus' site will be a tough sell without the aid of the forum as it now becomes a directory rather than an exchange of ideas.

Yes, 100% agree. And a directory that has failed completely.

I also agree. I have tried the new site, but find myself coming back to this one each day as I always have done for the Forum, plus I just think it works better. The menu, navigation and appearance of the new site doesn't work well for me. The Forum has more positives going for it than negatives and is a great loss on the new site, as it helped create a real sense of community and belonging, which the new site singularly fails to do, I feel no loyalty to it, unlike this one, where I make all my linked purchases from. The new one being less appealing, I don't think that will be happening much in the future.

What is going to happen to this site in the medium to longer term? I ask that as I want to use the forum for as long as I can, but if it is taken down I would like to know where others such as rammipie might participate in a forum as I enjoy reading posts with their views and news.

I sense that the current direction is to create a web based version of “Schwann Catalog” for hi-rez recordings in whatever format that they are offered, be it physical, in the clouds or any yet to be devised format.

Will it work? Not for me, but I can imagine that for the masses who spend better part of their free time with their wireless digital toys this may turn out to be a bit more profitable than the current version.

I agree. The new site seems less accessible than the old, and it's not just a matter of getting used to the newer format. The new site is very tidy, but , for example, it is difficult to read from the album covers on the "new reviews" page and also there is no ability to restrict the reviews on that page to format or genre. The comments can only be accessed apparently by going to the particular recording, as there is no page listing all current comments. I suspect that unless there are substantial modifications, the new site will lead to lower traffic and, hence, less site revenue.

That is the crux of the matter for me too. Without the forum the community goes, and we are left with a factual database. Hard to feel much warmth or loyalty towards it as it stands.

The reviews are still useful but the new site as a whole feels rather one dimensional. Like others I suspect, I have a quick look at what's new and then skip back here.
Will we still care enough to ensure that the site benefits from our 'click throughs' ?

As with previous post I find the lack of a forum unforgiveable. I will visit the new website very seldom. The forum is what I find most entertaining, informative, and interesting at both QuadraphonicQuad.com and SA-CD.net.

Kudos to Stephen and Polly for augmenting the NEW site with both DVD~A and BD~V listings and for also including poster's 'comments' in the sidebar of recent reviews.

A definite step in the right direction.

Totally Agree. A giant step in the right direction.

It's probably going to be a very cool site in the end and Zeus will say, what have you all been bitching about?
