Interesting for a cheap player, this one is able to output DSD over HDMI. Not so many receivers has a DSD decoder yet, though. This opens up for bass and time management done in the receiver which typically is much more flexible than the player has to offer.

Two news SACD systems (apparently SACD players with integrated amplifiers) from Pioneer: the X-Z9 (¥188k) and the X-Z7 (¥129k), both stereo only. It's not clear whether either will be released outside Japan.

New from Sony but apparently released only in Europe, not in the US or Japan: The DAV-X10 Home Theater System. Out in September.

It looks beautiful and functional but appears to be a "2.1" system i.e. not discrete surround.

Shocking fact: the entire press release (see http://www.sony-europe.com/view/ShowPressRelease.action?section=en_EU_Press&pressrelease=1184310532898&site=odw_en_EU ) does not mention SACD once. I only found it mentioned in the specs here: http://www.sony-europe.com/res/attachment/file/89/1184310532889.pdf
