Are there other ways in which the forums could be improved?

Might help encourage more use by members if current usage is so low..

..no offence but the forums are pretty spartan and uninviting..
no emoticons, image attachment process could be refined.. "likes" could be a nice addition..

..also maybe specific topic areas could help keep discussions more on track, currently it's all a bit general and so chit chat and OT stuff creeps in (I'm as guilty as any, I guess)..

..also what is the situation with forum moderation? If you need any volunteers I'm here a fair bit! :-)

What we (kind of) have to remember, Adam (fredblue) is the focus of SA~CD.net IS SACD and Blu Ray Audio whereas QQ is literally all over the map (in a good way, might I add) with literally NO focus on any particular format/topic (EVERY format/topic is fair game).

At times, SA~CD.net seems like a tug of war between the POP/ROCK/JAZZ element and the rabid Classical elements.....but seemingly both factions co~exist rather nicely.

While I find the emoticons over at QQ charming and amusing, I don't consider them mandatory additives.

It has been suggested that Zeus/Polly Nomial incorporate DVD~A into the site's masthead but because of the limited availability and especially Out of Print (OOP) status of most of that format's titles, it was decided that it was unnecessary (and I, personally, am a HUGE advocate of that format).

As far as chit chat and other puffery posts, I stand 'woefully' guilty and am trying to focus my posts on the essentials. I still have a ways to go, however.

What I do appreciate is that Zeus/Polly have allowed "The Rock Thread" to flourish (over 40k views/1390 posts and counting) which does allow some leeway for non~SACD/BD~A related topics like RBCD and DVD~A and the occasional BD~V).

As always, Adam, really appreciate your knowledgeable input and suggestions and I'm sure our current moderators while implementing the current site with worthwhile improvements are open to further suggestions in preserving the integrity and thus ensuring the longetivy of SA~CD.net.

Over 40K views, not posts.

(Apologies if I've missed anything on the subject already..)
What's happening to the Library and Wishlist features with the site overhaul?

I love both aspects of this site and use them a lot (much to my wallets' chagrin!)

These are both done:

/library2.php
/wishlist2.php

All the modules enabled (clickable) in the new menu are done.

Sure. But the current forum was never intended as being more than an adjunct to the site proper. The new Discussion page returns it to its original purpose. Frankly it's a bit insulting to hear this site referred to as a "forum".

May I suggest that label-specific discussion threads will be possible? I learned a lot on those threads, especially the BIS one. Thanks!

There's nothing to stop Robert, or any producer for that matter, posting to the Discussion page outlining why a new release deserves our attention. (It's not a de facto means of offering support for their activities elsewhere though.)

Please don't take offence! I wasn't referring to this whole site as a forum, only the forum area.. I realise sa-cd.net is much more than a forum and am a big fan of this resource in all respects.

Sorry Ralph, I don't know how I missed your last post!

Thanks for all your feedback and kindness (now re-reading my post you were replying to it probably came across as much more down and negative about the forum area of this site which I love!) .. fwiw you were the member here who made the biggest impression on me, to review and discuss the kinds of SACDs I'd be interested in and have long enjoyed your contributions here and look forward to many more when the full site revamp comes to pass.

Oh, I wouldn't want to see DVD-A here either, Blu-ray Audio was incorporated and rightly so it's a natural partnership I reckon and am delighted the decision was taken by the site owners to go SACD + BDA (I also think discussion of DVD-A/V on the forum in this site has been indulged above and beyond but let's not go there!). Take care my friend.
