Just received my HFPA disc this morning. I've played through 24/96 5.1 DTS-HD MA layer, now playing the 24/96 5.1 PCM ( 2014 Mix ) I really like the 2014 Mix. A "tighter" all round sound, for me. An excellent addition, to my HFPA collection.

That's nice to hear that you like it. I love my SHM SACD so much it would take a lot for me to replace it.

Here is the DR rating from Songs from the Big Chair

Unfortunately does not include the SHM SACD and this new Blu Ray.

Amazon is also selling the 6 disc box set with the Steven Wilson 5.1 mix. Its funny that some reissues there are too many choices and in others there is no choice at all.

Yes, I considered buying the box set, but I probably wouldn't have played all the discs that often, and it's such an expense leading up to Christmas.
I like the branding / packaging of the seperate HFPA discs, and want to build a collection of them.
I suppose you have got a choice with this release and next weeks Bryan Adam release...I was sorely tempted to buy the box set edition of that one ! ( but have just settled for the HFPA disc. )

But it lists the SHM-CD (DR12, as good as the original CD). The Universal SHM-SACDs and SHM-CDs released at the same time have the same mastering, so the dynamic range is similar if not identical.

I bought the new download, with the 2014 remix - is it the same as the blu-ray?

If the DVD~A which accompanies the box set is any indication, Alex, it has the 7 songs in MLP 5.1 and hi res stereo.

All the remixes, unfortunately, are on the RBCDs in 16/44.1 resolution.

But the 5.1 sound is glorious....Steve Wilson has performed his usual magic!

The HFPA has the 2014 remixes in Surround and Stereo and the original Stereo mix in 24/96 also.

Glad you're enjoying it, Ralph :-)

It's quite the revelation, Adam.

BTW, did you take my advice and order the AF 5.1 BS&T Child Is The Father To The Man....SIMPLY ASTOUNDING!

IMHO, Al Kooper should do more 5.1 mixes........the man's a genius!

Is the blu-ray that's scheduled to come out in December part of the box set? How does the sound of the non-remixed versions compare to previous versions, including the original W. German RBCD pressing and the MFSL RBCD? Anyone been able to compare the HD download remixes with this? What about the SHM-SACD version? (I know, I know, no multi-channel; I'm wondering about the stereo version(s)).
