However I understand that profits from this type of music can help to subsidise quality or better music, e.g. Classical, Film music etc.

Without taking the broader point made here (I don't consider all popular music rubbish, and I'd note the irony that many - although not myself - consider film music rubbish), I have always been interested in how labels survive on classical alone. The line is that even in the golden days of the 50s and 60s, classical recording was a money loser (a few records made money, but not nearly enough to cover losses overall), and was being subsidized by pop.

As expected, for your info I do not listen to crap genres and that includes rock & pop etc. continous drum beats, long haired tattooed drug taking yobs guitar strumming prancing up and down,of no interest.

Rather than listen to music by those drug-taking yobs, I'll stick with classical composers of high moral character, like Wagner.

Tom, don't allow Gerald's prosaic rants to dissuade you from purchasing Dusty in Memphis.

IMHO, all Gerald is into is HEAVY MEDDLE...it certainly fits into his "yob description!"

I think, as with reviews, if one doesn't like the music (not the recording or the performances), it's probably best if one refrains from anything other than factual commentary.

Cheers, PN.

In that regard, the effectiveness of classical music as an effective repellant of the young and scruffy has been demonstrated repeatedly, while the effectiveness of raucaus jungle music in repelling those of a certain age has also been shown.

So when are you going to add Euell in Memphis to your ever growing SACD collection, Mr Neverno.... being the dastardly, grit~eatin' 'scruffy' mountain man that you are.

Perhaps if our persnickety British brethern (Gerald/Disbeliever) imbibed less tea and added a healthy dose of good ole Tennessee Bourbon Whiskey to his beverage diet, his stance on bombastic rock music would be drastically altered in the affirmative.

Per your suggestion, just acquired a bourbon and water for immediate consumption.

With the HARD rock group Kiss' DESTROYER blaring in the background, I trust?

Well, no actually, a York Bowen chamber number.

Mazel tov! I might be tempted to listen to their music and take drugs, and (if possible) let my hair grow and dodge the soap for a while!
