I have a similar problem with the earlier Elgar release in that the bass overwhelms the rest of the frequency range even after careful adjusting of the volume control. Perhaps done to increase the dynamic range?
Have had little exposure to the "Prof's" well regarded recordings before so was somewhat underwhelmed with the Elgar release. It arrived the same time as the RR release of the Sound Mirror recorded Dvorak. This to my mind completely eclipsed the Elgar both in recording and performance.

It is the same for me... without the Audyssey XT32 acoustic correction but it is fantastic sound when Audyssey is working. The bass end is present but controlled.

So I think it is an acoustic problem of your room but not a recording problem.
(sorry for my English)

I haven't hear this disc yet (it's on my way), but that bass boost looks familiar from other RR and some Telarc recordings. Maybe the target audience has something to do with it (hifi fans rather than classical music collectors)

Could be right but I have no problem with my Telarcs and my other few hundred sacd's.
It's a bit funny then when this occurs with my only RR disc.

I will have to investigate further.
