Those who have collected the Tacet Beethoven Symphonies (4 SACDs so far) will be pleased to know that No. 9 is scheduled for recording next June.

Andreas S has also told me that after the Mozart Quintets (currently being recorded) the Auryn will embark on the Mozart Quartets (YES! YES! YES!).

I am kind of interested to hear this actually. Will the chorus be dancing in a circle around the listener? :)

Those are indeed truly magnificent performances (I have 3 DVD-A's right now - the fourth disc was SACD only AFAIK). I'm wondering if this new recording of the Ninth will be on blu-ray?

Any options for hi res digital downloads of this label?

How's performance wise? A lot of occasions I could not get enough of the ninth.

Dont know about downloads, sorry, Wenda but if the earlier performances are anything to go by performance should be very good. I've found with the Beethoven and with other Tacet discs that even if the performances are sometimes less than stellar, the sound makes them seem splendid.

The performances of the Beethoven are less radical than, say, Paavo Jarvi but a far cry from the titan's of yesteryear. They're certainly enjoyable and the audio presentation in MCH is incredible but they're not the most memorable IMO.

As for the Auryn, yay! It's about time we had a set of the Mozart's on disc.

That's a good thing - Jarvi chucked the vibrato! Too bad, because his set was well recorded too.

That's a matter of opinion! It's not obvious that Beethoven is best served by a tonal approach that mimic's "diet" Wagner...
