This and a few other Blu-ray audio, Debussy with Haitink etc. was to be released now. But they have all been deleted from the catalogue. Strange.

Too bad, this was an interesting one, the Debussy as well.

The Rachmaninov concerto disc still seems on schedule (June 16)

Luckily Reiner's,imho even better played version is available on SACD.
Solti's mid 60s DECCA recording is definitely also one of the classic recordings of this work. But after just having listened to both in their original release format ie LP,I prefer Reiner's.
Personally I wish that we will get Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra from the BFO /Fischer in SOTA SQ "con tutta forza" that would make me "stick to the wall like a swatted fly" as their Blubeard almost does at the most powerful and scariest climaxes of that operatic masterpiece of Bartok's.
Neither of these two old recordings, good as they both still are,are manages to capture the full force of Bartok's climaxes as modern digital, non compressed, full dynamic range recordings can at their best.
But both are interesting historic interpretations of one of the 20th Century's true orchestral masterpieces.
So if Universal now fails to deliver their historic one I say come on Channel Classics bring it on!
