Hey Ralph,

I think you're forgetting The Who: My Generation and The Who Sell Out ;-)

Mono + stereo as well.

My point Anthony, was that Universal Japan is amenable to releasing bonus tracks (Queens Greatest Hits I & II both sported a single bonus track when there is a Queen's Greatest Hits Vol III that could've comfortably fit on those two compilations.

Am still waiting (with baited breath) for a 5.1 SHM~SACD...........which will probably never come!

Sigh!

Agreed, and... well, I don't believe SHM SA-CDs with a MC program will come one day, given the fact their purist mentality demands no DST compression... thus, ST only.

According to CDJapan, these titles will not include bonus tracks but will be DSD mastered from the Original UK analogue master tapes.

Courtesy of one bit audio, three new SHM~SACD titles have been announced from Universal Japan:

Camel: Moonmadness (1976), Camel: Raindance (1977) and Caravan: For Girls Who Grow Plump In The Night (1973).

According to CDJapan they are NOT even listed so keep an eye out for release dates.

Forget about CDJapan. They don't list many things. They also claim some SHM SACDs to be out of print, for example Queen Greatest Hits II. I just bought that and Greatest Hits from HMV Lawson and for quite a bit less money than what CDJapan would have charged if they had either one of them. Could be the end days are near for CDJapan.

CDJapan is always my first choice for ordering imports, sure their listings aren't always up to date but they have a huge selection and mostly reasonable prices.

++1, Alumni. And with their generous bonus points (I just received 300 for my birthday in January) and polite customer service, I wouldn't order my Japanese imports from anyone else.

The reliable way to check if the Universal SHM-SACD's are out of print is to go to their site via the link here (you'll have to search for "SHM-SACD"). You'll get a page with tabs for classics, jazz and pop, and all their titles are listed. If there's a button underneath the title that says "Universal Store" it's still in stock, if the only buttons are for Amazon, HMV and Tower, it's run out. If CD Japan say it's out of print it usually is, and your best course then (if you're still in time) is to try Amazon.jp or HMV as they tend to hold stocks. However, if you're too late, bad luck - anyone got a Pollini Etudes they don't want any more?!! (Seriously, if anyone has please e-mail me ...)

I agree if an item is stated as "out of Print" at CDJapan.. it could be available from other vendors. Although this is not a recent development. Maybe, CDJapan is at the mercy of their supplier who may not have the same warehouse capacity.
From my personal experience, over the years, .. I have found that CDJapan have offered the best possible packaging.

MOONMADNESS is #2 on my all-time album list (regardless of genre or format.) The SHM-CD should have been rechristened _The Moonmadness is a Harsh Mistress_. I hope some of you well-qualified contributors will address this point of interest when you've listened to your SHM-SACDs. I would love to be able to just pop for it sight-unheard. Can't... fact of life.
BTW if you ARE interested in progressive rock more generally, the ABSOLUTE #1 BEST remaster I've EVER had the pleasure of blissening to is the SHM-SACD of _Octopus_ by Gentle Giant. Just incredible... superlatives FAIL miserably. It's THUNDEROUS... yet nuanced, in a way that's so right for an album of 'chamber rock' that I realized I had never experienced the work before, only heard it.

Are you saying you don't like the SHM-CD? I think it sounds pretty good.
