I used to own "On the Threshold of a Dream" a very long time ago and don't recall it doing much for me.

What are other peoples views on MB music? Worth a listen?

Right now I'm grateful to see anything. Maybe Steely Dan and Genesis releases really are coming?

Moody Blues were made for multichannel. The 7 classic albums have been perhaps my most looked forward to rock/pop SACD since their announcement. Worth a listen? More than ever!

I heard "Days of Future Passed" last Saturday night (CD only, of course) again at a friend's place after many years and was reminded just how fascinating it is as a concept album, with some very notable orchestral music played by the London Festival Orchestra conducted by Peter Knight -- and some marvellous songs, including of course "Nights in White Satin", which is surely a classic of its kind.

I have been generally disappointed with most other the Great Rock / Pop releases.Even the Dylan series was only better than the original disc because the discs originally were poor. The Moodies were above average musicians so a greatest hits might be tempting..The vinyl is almost giveaway in charity shops in the uk but the recordings were very good.My favourite track was Om..However anything is better than nothing (almost) I think this is indicative the way sacd is going..occasional bursts of issues by artists trying to boost sales and interest. If the Beatles dont issue their back catelogue then we are only treading water....Theres lots of stuff later than this that would sell better...

I am very excited, the Moody Blues albums are among the ones I look forward to most - along with the likes of Pink Floyd.

Sounds like Depeche mode will be releasing practically their entire catalog soon - that is also worth a listen.

I'll buy "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour" if it's ever reissued, but I otherwise have no great expectations for these current reissues being particularly superior in terms of the two-channel sound they'll convey.

Of course there are many who will want them for their multi-channel content, and this should make them good sellers.

It depends on your tastes. "Threshold" is one of my favorites. I have grown away form the catchy pop music, but these are produced to perfection and definitely will be for multichannel. Tons of Jazz and Classical are out on SACD(you know what the audiophiles listen to). SACD will not go away. I prefer vinyl to any digital format, but sometimes a good multichannel mix is better, sometimes worse. I think PCM remastering (I hope not done on Moody's releases)should not be used for SACD releases- it is stupid. Any deteriorating original Cr O2 magnetic originals should be transfered channel by channel unmixed into PCM 24 bit 192K and DSD single bit code. One day someone will be able to put them togehter for an analogue-like waveform. The worst thing about DVD-A is that the multi-channel is limited to 96K. If you try one Moody Blues release, they are all good, but "A Question Of Balance" is the least in my opinion of the 5. I wonder why they are so pricy, though. I am glad to see more out on DVD-A, also, and better sounding again. SACD will have renewed interest. Sony should work out downloading files, but no one can hear the difference when they are listening to ipods with MP3 bullshit (1/10th the data of CD) on little headsets. Few people care about good quality music, they all want quantity and portability.

if people can't hear the difference listening to ipods, as you claim, then what's the crime? That does not mean that they don't care about what you refer to as "good quality" music at all. I am sure there are many people who would have difficulty lugging their tower speakers and other hardware areound on a country walk or a long coach ride. Why all this slamming off at MP3 on this site - it's a different format for different purposes. I love my ipod for its delivery of fine music on demand and on the go. I love my SACD player for delivering fine music with top class sound in my home. They aren't mutually exclusive and neither need be looked down on or knocked by anyone who puts music first. And if "all" people want quantity and portability zenbret (as you claim), then how do you explain the existence of this site and classicstoday and other sites catering to love of both music and audiophile sound. Cut the specious and unhelpful generalisations, and the insults to our intelligence, including remarks like MP3 bullshit, and develop some analytical and critical skills and a perception of the world in which you are not the only customer.
