This is deserving of a review. First this is not the complete ballet scores but excerpts. Karajan never conducted or recorded any of Tchaikovsky's ballets in full as far as I know. This is a high-res release of an original CD from the Decca Legends series.

I think Karajan is just a complete master of these. The drama, tragedy, joy, love and beauty is just superbly delivered. The sound is fantastic clear strings, real raspy brass, delicate percussion, beautiful woodwind, cello and double bass.

The inside of the sleeve states "where possible, tracks will be made available in 5.1 surround, but in order to pay respect to the original material this is not possible for every release." This is just stereo.

Highly recommended.
