Performance:   Sonics:
It looks like this SHM-SACD is one of those that needs a few spins to open up in the sonics department.

The first few go rounds were not that positive. The sound being somewhat on the thin and dry side. Interestingly, this was a presentation that really highlighted Freddys campness (for want of a better word).

By the fourth or fifth spin, the sonics of this disc have really deepened/thickened and it now sounds like a real 70's rock album. It is of course a prisoner of the recording technology of the time and there was only so much that you could squeeze on to the tape, not a big help for a band that quite liked adding the odd bit of studio trickery. But it sounds pretty great and the DSD mastering is excellent. It cranks wonderfully to boot.
