Performance: Sonics: |
I just got this CD from Japan. The performance of the concerto is marked by a distictive silvery tone and really fine intonation with a vibrato that does not get in the way. Kino lets the violin speak without any hint of strain. Apparently Kino had his fantastic violin given to him by Ruggiero Ricci when he had some lessons from the famous virtuoso. Quite a remarkable compliment! The cadenzas are not Kreisler or Joachim and I don't recognise them, but they are terrific and make a nice change. The F Major Romance is particularly beautiful.
