Classic 1956 Sonny Rollins album. Most lovers of Rollins claim this to be his very best album. I do not own the original sacd release.

I was very surprised at the sound of this shm-sacd. It sounds very new and fresh sounding. This fits in easilly with the other beautifully mastered shm sacd's released recently.

Rollins has a sense of humour which is easilly heard on some of his tracks. He is also a very formidable sax player. His sax is rendered very nicely and the bass is very deep. Drums are also realistic sounding.

If you love classic jazz from the past I highly recommend this title.

I agree with the previous reviewer - this is an amazingly good transfer of this classic album. The sound is tight and clear with lots of 'air'. It is significantly better than the Analog Productions release, which is softer and does not quite have the same life-like timbre and transparency.

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give this release a perfect 10. I'd give the Analog Productions release about an 8, for those wanting to know if they are considering the upgrade.

For me definitely worth it, even at the ridiculous price.
