Well not all the shm-sacd's can be outstanding. This release is one such example.

I found the original European sacd to be very superior in all respects even thought it was overly loud and a tad unfocussed. But I was very shocked to find this shm-sacd title to suffer from the same issue. I am tempted to think that perhaps the original tapes are excessively loud and will stay that way.

To make a long story short I cannot recommend this title even at half the cost. It is granular, raspy and ever so loud. Although a secondary tape was used to transfer this album it certainly does not sound fresh and vibrant.

Some shm-sacd's are fantastic in sound quality and make one happy to be a music lover but this title just doesn't deliver the goods Im afraid.

Not recommended.

I am in total agreement with analogue in regard to SHM SACD sound quality. I was so disappointed with this sound production. There is no bass whatsoever to speak of. It is loud and bright. When I placed my hand near the powered subwoofer, there is no bass or air pumping out of the port. What is going on with this CD? Not convinced, I changed to another SHM SACD (George Benson Breezing).
It is equally bad. The same problem - no bass and way too bright. I am now convinced that SHM SACD recorded in 2 channel is not worth the price of admission.
I have learned my lesson. Never to purchase SHM SACDs that are recorded in 2 channel.

Very decent record. While the original recording itself was not always of very high quality. It is on these records very well heard how SHM-SACD is superior to other formats. Lack of digital dirt, lightness transfer despite the fact that is clearly audible antiquity of the record itself.
