This is a very intimate Sam Cooke album. I was pleasantly surprised. Then when I heard his voice I was extremely impressed.
The remastering and dsd transfer is awesome. Cookes voice is rendered very beautifully. His voice floats out of the speakers and hangs there in mid space.. The whole sacd sounds warm and very inviting and very relaxing. The musical instruments and musicians that accompany him sound very real as well. Nice bass and electric organ. Mostly though they are there to support this intimate performance and merely include a little background mood. But some numbers are fast and have a groove too.

But the star here is the voice and vocal presentation of Mr. Sam Cooke ....which is a treasure.
A very beautiful, soulful voice that has great range.

The only other Sam Cooke sacd I own was the greatest hits package and this one completely demolishes it. No comparison at all.
Night Beat sounds realistic, is warm, full and rich in sound. Its just gorgeous. No digital glare or brightness.
Analogue productions have been on a tear recently delivering sacd's of terrific quality. I actually feel spoiled.

Cant recommend this sacd and album enough. This is a beautiful sacd done right.Excellent sonics.

A great show piece for the awesome sound of Analogue Productions. Tonality is very accurate, warm and inviting. Nothing digital or artificial about it! The rendering of low level detail (such as the reverb of the room it's recorded in) just adds to this sonic ecstasy.

I really cannot recommend this, as it's like the other George Marino mastering jobs I own: shrill in the upper midrange. It's very similar in sound to those early CDs that you can only crank up halfway before the high end singes your eardrums.

Even Sam Cooke's vocals come off as less than silky smooth on this Acoustic Sounds SACD, and that's a damn shame, because the song choices and the performances are top-notch. The multi-channel is somewhat better, thankfully.
