Performance:   Sonics:
BluesQuest Hybrid SACD Stereo Only.

Quick Facts: Released 2000 by AudioQuest cable company. This site (SA-CD.net) offers access to 9 blues discs by AudioQuest in SACD. All tracks on this disc mastered by Bernie Grundman using Sony Direct Stream Digital, DSD. All tracks recorded at 30Ips direct to two track tape.

Performance: A compilation disc with 8 different blues artists on 12 tracks, electric and acoustic mix. Great mix of tunes with the possibly lesser known true blues stars of the Blues Scene, unlike the better known, say BB King, Eric Clapton, etc. Mighty Sam McClain I have always thought of more of a soul singer but he certainly fits in the Blues genre. All these 12 tracks are recorded between 1992 and 1998 and the tunes taken from the various artists own album/disc recordings. Not all tunes are guitar blues as there are a couple piano blues tunes, really good.

Stereo Sonics: Track 1 starts off alcapela with Terry Evans and group and instantly you know you are in for a sonic treat. This is a masterful version of SACD at it's best. Every track has beauty and clarity that just relaxed me to the point of not needing to care if it was a great SACD or not. Track 6 with piano and harmonica, the Bruce Katz Band, could be the best ever SACD stereo track I have ever heard. As I write I am on this disc 3 times now as I just keep stopping to listen. Sound stage is wide, drums and cymbals resonate without question, bass and guitars of all tracks are wonderful. Vocals are clear as can be and in my opinion the piano tracks are the star of the show as I feel I could touch the piano. Pinetop Perkins is on two tracks. I listened at 72 decibels and there where no issues, 88.2 Khz, HDMI outs.

Packaging: Plastic SACD jewel case. Good liner notes with all musicians credited on each track. No lyrics and of course an advertisement for audioquest cables.

Thanks Rammiepie for the tip. I was so taken by this disc that I ordered the remaining 8 discs that SA-CD.net has all through Amazon averaging about $17.00 each.

If you like the blues done by Titans of the Blues, well, here you go.
