This SACD is about my 10th so I`m not very experienced with so many disks. This one I bought only to have the better sound, because I own also the original CD which is one of my best. This live recording is a real experience, also for those who may not like jazz or blues normally. My favourite is track 12 but anything is fine and it`s a great performance. You have never the impression, that the sound was the target so it`s not snthetical. This is my statement for the CD and remastered SACD too.
The feeling when first hearing the SACD was: Wow, I have a new equipment with 3 times the price of my old. More natural, extreme dynamically and I wanted to make it louder and louder. Nothing nerves me even at highest volumes for a long time. At some tracks (e.g the beginning of track 2)I feared for me and also for the loudspeakers. This is not so amazing for the family and the neighborhood but this is why I bought the 2x500W sin Amp. Don`t try this on small monitors if you want to keep them alive.
Wow, I`d wish I was there - but to have the SACD gives me a very good sense of the concert.
I bought the SACD together with the Dire Strais "Brothers in arms" and the difference was really so dramatically. Compared to the Masekela SACD I was really disappointed about the Dire Straits and the sound seemed flat and snthetical. I don`t wanded to say bad things about the Dire Straits, but many may have the disc and so it may be helpful to have something to compare with for having an idea of the sound quality.
